In Tim Burton's film version of Sweeney Todd, am I correct in thinking it is not a real orchestra?
I was disappointed with the soundtrack to the film, either it was a bad mix with poor post production or a sample library such as vienna symphonic orchestra or garritan etc... Can anyone shed any light on this?

- Most films will be using samples from a real orchestra but in some way synthesised. If they need to make any time/score changes it's not practical to do it in a recording with a whole orchestra. Some parts I believe are sampled and kept original, but most of it is synthesised. It will not be garritan, sibelius etc., I'm sure they have more impressive programs in film-making!
- It was a real orchestra. But I have to agree the soundtrack wasn't great.
- Stephen Sondheim is extremely protective of his work, but he did sign off on the actors and the music.
